I am never more at home than walking along the beach or cliff top absorbing the atmosphere, being energised by the weather or on a boat seeing the coast from a different angle. From this perspective it is quite easy to enjoy a new perspective of known coastal shapes, all part of the experience!
Sketches or loose scribbles on paper will be the starting points. My collection of sketchbooks contain images waiting patiently to ‘become’ something more… My artwork is usually completed back in my studio, though in the last year I have started to create work outside – using acrylic on primed watercolour paper.
In the studio I like to have 3 or 4 paintings on the go at once, though if working on pet portraits, these will be started and finished individually.
